maginniss picA native of Herndon, Virginia, Lieutenant Christopher J. Maginniss commissioned in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

LT Maginniss’ first sea assignment was aboard USS NORMANDY (CG-60) where he served as the Gunnery Officer and Auxiliaries Officer. While onboard NORMANDY, he completed two deployments. The first was part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group under the command of Admiral Black. During his second deployment, he participated in TRIDENT JUNCTURE and deployed to the North Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Persian Gulf. While in Fifth Fleet AOR, he led the engineering team on NORMANDY’s Visit Board Search and Seizure team. During that time, NORMANDY intercepted on of the largest weapons smuggling shipments in the Gulf of Aden. In November of 2020 he reported to his second sea assignment, USS BILLINGS (LCS-15), as the Assistant Operations officer. During his tour he completed his third deployment. Operating in Fourth Fleet conducting joint counter drug operations with the US Coast Guard.

He reported to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit, University of Utah in August 2022 where he serves as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science and Freshman/Sophomore Advisor.
