Major Tyler J. Holt

Executive Officer


Major Tyler Holt graduated from Georgetown University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History.  He received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in January 2004 via the Platoon Leaders Course.  Following The Basic School, he attended Infantry Officers Course and then reported to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, in Camp Pendleton, California in January 2005.  He served as a Rifle Platoon Commander during his deployment to Ramadi, Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.  Then, as a Company Executive Officer, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in 2006.  Before leaving 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, First Lieutenant Holt completed the Mountain Leaders Course (Summer) in Bridgeport, California.

In 2007, First Lieutenant Holt reported to The Basic School, in Quantico, Virginia to serve as an instructor for newly commissioned Marine officers.  He taught leadership and tactics, and during his last year, commanded a platoon of enlisted instructors.  Captain Holt then attended Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, graduating in 2011.

In March 2011, Captain Holt assumed command of Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  He deployed to Marjah, Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2011.  In Afghanistan, Captain Holt served as both a company commander and as the lead advisor to an Afghan National Army battalion.  In 2012, Captain Holt assumed command of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines and deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the Unit Deployment Program.  Following that deployment, Captain Holt assumed command of Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines and graduated from the Operations and Tactics Instructor Course in Twentynine Palms, California.  Captain Holt then assumed responsibilities as the Operations Officer of Battalion Landing Team 3/6 for deployment as part of the 24th MEU, and he was promoted to major.

Major Holt’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, and Combat Action Ribbon.
